About Coach Hanna

Coach Hanna is a class "A" member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and a former member of the P.G.A. Tour, 1979-1980. After assuming the head coaching duties in the fall of 1993 Coach Hanna's 1993-94 team qualified for the N.C.A.A. East Regional Championships. This was the first time the Terp golfers had made it to the N.C.A.A. Championships since the late 1980's. For his team's fine performances, Hanna was named 1994 A.C.C. Golf Coach of the year. Coach Hanna's 1998-99 Team Finished the regular season with a 12 top five or better finished out of 14 events. His Terps achieved the highest National Ranking ever by a Maryland Golf Team, #6 (Golfweek oct 98). Since then Coach Hanna has guided his Terps to several collegiate tournament victories as well as five straight N.C.A.A. Tournament appearances -2002-2003-2004-2005-2006.

Coach Hanna attributes the success of his program to extremely hard work and dedication to improving their games in the areas of course management, shot selection, shot identification, course management, and short game.

A note from Coach Hanna...

Since starting my players Golf Camp 14 years ago, the Tom Hanna Jr. Playing Golf Camp has become one of the premiere Junior Golf Camps in the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, and Eastern United States. To date, over 100 former campers both male and female have gone on the play golf at the college level. Also, many many campers have won or placed high in local, regional, state, and national level.
During the four 2007 Golf Camp sessions we had several firsts. We had the largest turnout in our Golf Camp history with over 80 participants. We had the largest number of female campers (23). For the first time we had a female win the Camp Tournament with a 73. We had the lowest nine hole score by a female 33 (3 under) not in the Tournament, and several campers improved their scoring average for 18 holes by more than 8 strokes. As always, I have received countless letters and emails informing me they have posted their lowest scores ever after attending my Golf Camp.
